Golf Ball

This is my first real artwork with POV-Ray. It’s a unique graphics program, in that the pictures are made by defining objects programming-style, rather than in a modeling environment. It probably makes it slower than Bryce or other such programs, but it’s also free.

This image is an experiment in CSG. There is a main sphere, and a whole bunch of smaller ones subtracted from it. I did look at a real golf ball and copy the pattern of dimples, for accuracy. The tee is a lathe object - I define a curve, and it spins it around to make a solid object. I defined the grass texture, and used a built-in sky.
