Well there’s floodin’ down in Texas

Music: Stevie Ray Vaughan’s Texas Flood

I came to work this morning to find the floor wet. Not just a little damp, but really WET. Squishy noises when you walk wet. Smelly from the dirty carpet that needs a shampoo wet. It was seriously wet.

I went up on the roof to check things out. 3 inches of water standing. The roof is flat, with a little wall thingy around the edge. The four (only four, for a whole office building) drains were completely clogged with leaves and rotting tree matter. This roof is designed to hold water, not drain it, I’m sure. One of the four drains is higher than the surrounding roof, so it’s no good even when it’s not clogged.

So, we now have the shop-vac running - manned by various people in alternation, we have the doors open, we have fans blowing on the floor in unusual places. The whole office smells, it’s kind of a musty thing going on.

Times are fun.
